CNHA announces registration fees
08/13/2010
The CNHA announced Thursday, August 12, the
registration fees and volunteer commitment for the 2010-2011 season.
The Association also has a financial assistance policy, which provides for a limited fund to be applied to only those players who have already applied for outside financial assistance through the
Flames Foundation (currently under the name of the Flames Even Strength Program) or
KidSport. These programs require specific financial disclosure to determine a parent's ability to pay registration fees.
Note that any funds from this policy are eligible to be applied to CNHA registration fees
only. Please contact the CNHA Treasurer at treasurer@calgarynorthstars.ca for the details of this program. For a complete explanation, go to
CNHA Financial Assistance Program Policy.
Members must complete Respect In Sport
08/13/2010
Here is a reminder to all members that Hockey Calgary (HC) has made it mandatory with the 2010-2011 season that at least one adult guardian for each player must complete the online
Respect in Sport program that can be found on the HC website. This course will take about one hour to complete. Be sure to attach your player/players' name(s) in order to ensure tracking of the program is completed properly.
Failure to complete this requirement will result in a player being prohibited from participating in HC sanctioned events until said compliance has been fulfilled.
This initiative also affects all Junior B players, who can complete the course on their own. The
Respect in Sport program can be found on the HC website at:
http://www.hockeycalgary.com/ris.php.

HC adopts Fair Play policy
08/12/2010
Hockey Calgary (HC) introduced on August 10 to its AA Council members an
Elite Stream Fair Play Policy, a set of guidelines for players, coaches, parents, officials, spectators and league organizers that are intended to promote positive hockey experiences and development.
The policy, which comes into effect on September 1, 2010, is being run as a pilot project during the 2010-2011 season. HC will conduct a review at the end of the season to determine if modifications to the policy are required.
This newly established HC policy complements the guidelines already established by the four quadrants. CNHA's own version of this new policy is referred to here as the
CNHA Fair Play Policy.
In addition to these two documents, CNHA members are reminded of the communications protocol to follow as set out in the CNHA Members Handbook.
Midget AAA Travelers Policy
08/12/2010
The 2010-2011 season will see the continuation of the 17-year-old traveler policy for Midget AAA that was approved and instituted last year by AA Council. This policy allows for those 17-year-old players released from their home quadrant to travel to one other quadrant of their choice for evaluation. Any player contemplating a move to a different quadrant must have an
"AA" Permission to Travel Form completed and signed off by Hockey Calgary.
If that player is accepted to be evaluated by another team, but does not make the chosen quadrant Midget AAA team, he will then return to his home quadrant to play Midget AA for the 2010-2011 season. The CNHA encourages those 17-year-old players who are interested in traveling to the CNHA Midget AAA Northstars to contact head coach Keith Fagnan: k.fagnan@hotmail.com.
